The Carmel Valley Community Planning Board (CVCPB) voted on the One Paseo project at the January 2016 special meeting. The result was split, with 5 FOR the project and 5 AGAINST the project. One Paseo will now move forward to the Planning Commission and the City Council without a formal recommendation from the community, but those groups will likely understand that the project is still contentious within the community. The Planning Commission hearing will likely be in late February or early March.
There will be a cleanup event in Gonzales Canyon on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Sword Way at Winstanley Way, San Diego, CA 92130. Join Gonzales Canyon neighbors, Open Space Park Rangers and Friends of the San Diego Canyonlands as we remove invasive plants, excess brush, and debris from the beautiful trails at Gonzales canyon. Directions: From Del Mar Heights Road turn north on Lansdale Dr, go 1.4 miles and turn left on Sword Way. Go 0.5 (1/2) mile, on your left-hand side look for the brown Parks and Recreation trail marker, brown wooden Gonzales Canyon sign and chain-link fence. There is plenty of street parking. Wear: Sturdy shoes or boots and a hat. Note: Bring a water bottle and sunscreen. Tools and gloves provided if you do not bring your own. Community service hours documentation provided to those who need it. Volunteers under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a youth waiver to participate. The final scheduled meeting for the PHR Community Park Design committee is on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 6:30PM (final review of the park plan.) The meeting will be held at the Pacific Trails Middle School Art Room M102 on 5975 Village Center Loop Road, San Diego 92130. The public is invited to attend all committee meetings. January's free family music program sponsored by the Friends of the Carmel Valley Library will be held on Wednesday, January 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library’s community room. It will feature pianist/composer and Steinway artist Louis Landon. He specializes in music that creates a more loving and peaceful world by writing, recording and performing, music from the heart. He has recorded and released 18 CDs that include music spanning many styles including classical, pop, and Latin genres. The program will last 45 minutes.
