Good thing we're having movies in the park, as it seems all the local theaters are closed. The Flower Hill Cinema has closed its doors for good (and will eventually be replaced by a Whole Foods market.) The plan is that we'll get our theaters back, but it may take a while. The Del Mar Highlands Town Center theater is scheduled to reopen later this summer, as an upscale venue with stadium seating, reserved seats and high-end food. There are plans for a new theater in Pacific Highlands Ranch (out SR-56 a bit, near Canyon Crest Academy.) This second theater may take a while, with no scheduled date for construction of the new shopping center.
