Free CV Library Concert, Oct 14, 2015

October’s free family music program sponsored by the Friends of the Carmel Valley Library will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library’s community room. It will feature Dean Ratzman in a program of swing, rock, soul, and jazz standards from the 40s to the 70s. He plays piano, trumpet, trombone, and sings in the styles of Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Elvis, Neil Diamond, Tommy James, and others, including some of his own compositions. It will feature the Striano Piano Trio playing Felix Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio No.2 and Richard Thompson’s Legend of the Moors. The program will last 45 minutes. July’s free family music program sponsored by the Friends of the Carmel Valley Library will be held on Wednesday, July 8 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library’s community room. It will feature pianists Dominic and Angelo Pizarro in a program of jazz standards and selections from The Great American Songbook with music by Gershwin, Sinatra, Duke Ellington, and more. The program will last 45 minutes. Homeschooled and raised with an appreciation and love for music, brothers Dominic and Angelo began studying classical music at the age of three and a half in San Diego. With encouragement and support from both their mother and grandfather the boys continued their zest for music and later developed an avid interest in jazz and pop. May's free family music program sponsored by the Friends of the Carmel Valley Library will be held on Wednesday, May 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library's community room. It will feature flutist Carlos Aguilar performing pieces by Greg Patillo, Franz Doppler, and Otar Taktakishvili. He will be accompanied by pianist Melissa Evans. The program will last 45 minutes. The CV Library now has additional hours, including Sundays! New hours are:
Monday: 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Tuesday: 11:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday: 11:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Thursday: 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Friday: 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Sunday: 12:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

CV Library Free Concert, Nov. 12, 2014

November's free family music program sponsored by the Friends of the Carmel Valley Library will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library's community room. It will feature vocalist Allison Adams Tucker and pianist Danny Green performing songs of the Great American Songbook, a term used to denote the canon of the most important and most influential American popular songs of the 20th century - principally from Broadway theatre, musical theatre, and Hollywood musical film. It was written from the 1920s through the 1950s and includes hundreds of songs of enduring popularity. The program will last 45 minutes. The Library is located at 3919 Townsgate Drive in Carmel Valley.
