January's free family music program sponsored by the Friends of the Carmel Valley Library will be held on Wednesday, January 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library’s community room. It will feature pianist/composer and Steinway artist Louis Landon. He specializes in music that creates a more loving and peaceful world by writing, recording and performing, music from the heart. He has recorded and released 18 CDs that include music spanning many styles including classical, pop, and Latin genres. The program will last 45 minutes. November's free family music program sponsored by the Friends of the Carmel Valley Library will be held on Wednesday, November 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library's community room. It will feature flutist Elena Yarritu, guitarist Pablo Gomez Cano, and pianist Melissa Creider in a program of Argentina's national music by legendary tango maestro Astor Piazzolla and two young Buenos Aires composers, Exequiel Mantega and Paulina Fain, that showcases the modern flute as a viable instrument in tango music. October’s free family music program sponsored by the Friends of the Carmel Valley Library will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library’s community room. It will feature Dean Ratzman in a program of swing, rock, soul, and jazz standards from the 40s to the 70s. He plays piano, trumpet, trombone, and sings in the styles of Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Elvis, Neil Diamond, Tommy James, and others, including some of his own compositions. July’s free family music program sponsored by the Friends of the Carmel Valley Library will be held on Wednesday, July 8 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library’s community room. It will feature pianists Dominic and Angelo Pizarro in a program of jazz standards and selections from The Great American Songbook with music by Gershwin, Sinatra, Duke Ellington, and more. The program will last 45 minutes. Homeschooled and raised with an appreciation and love for music, brothers Dominic and Angelo began studying classical music at the age of three and a half in San Diego. With encouragement and support from both their mother and grandfather the boys continued their zest for music and later developed an avid interest in jazz and pop.
