Peñasquitos Canyon Electric Transmission Line Expansion

Laura Copic, our Neighborhood 10 representative on the Carmel Valley Planning Board, has asked me to post the following announcement. She would like community members to be aware of and be able to attend the public scoping meetings so that they can provide their input. San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) has filed an application to construct the Sycamore-Peñasquitos 230-kV Transmission Line Project (Proposed Project) with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). The Proposed Project is located in your community. The CPUC is currently reviewing SDG&E’s application, and Panorama Environmental, Inc. (Panorama) is a CPUC contractor assisting with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) compliance. An overview fact sheet of the Proposed Project area is attached for your reference. The public scoping period will begin on Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, and will end on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014. The CPUC welcomes comments on potential environmental issues and potential alternatives to the Proposed Project during the scoping period. Information about the methods for submitting comments is included in the attached fact sheet. Comments gathered during the scoping period will help inform the development of the Environmental Impact Report.

The CPUC will also conduct three public scoping meetings at the DoubleTree Golf Resort (14455 Peñasquitos Drive in San Diego) on the following dates, and your attendance is welcome at any of them:

Brief presentation: 7:15 p.m.
Verbal comments starting at 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014
Open house session: 2 p.m.

The Carmel Valley Community Planning Board will hold it's regular monthly meeting on July 24, 2014 from 7:00 to 10:00 pm at the Carmel Valley Library, 3919 Townsgate Drive. The July Agenda is attached. SPECIAL NOTE: One Paseo is NOT on this month's agenda. The Agenda includes information on the September 2014 Carmel Valley 5k Trail Run, and on the Urban Forestry Plan. CV Planning Board One Paseo Final Hearing?

The CV Planning Board announced that it will hold a hearing on the final One Paseo Environmental Report on Thursday, July 24, 2014 (possibly at the CCA Auditorium.) UPDATE 7/14/2014: Canceled. The environmental report is not yet ready, so this meeting will be rescheduled based on the completion of the document. This meeting is meant to allow the public to comment on Kilroy's latest plans for One Paseo before the Planning Board makes its final decision (possibly on July 31.) The only problem? The Environmental Report isn't available yet! That means you can't actually see the document, and there's barely 2 weeks left to review a multi-thousand page document before the board hears the issue!
